How can I change the material of a product?
Sometimes it is not enough to change the color, but the material of a part of the product should be changed. Think of a table top, for example, which can be available in different types of wood.
Materials can be created in two ways:
- As soon as a Modell hochgeladen is created, its materials are exported on request
- Materials can also be created or copied manually.
info
The K3 will soon also provide a material library.
Creation of new materials
- Open the editor of your configurator.
- Click on Loading...in the sidebar.
- Click on Loading....
- You can maintain the following properties of a material:
- Designation: Title under which the material can be maintained in the configurator
- Name: Title under which the material is referenced in the 3D model.
- Type:
- Pbr (Physically based Rendering): The default material that already provides a realistic rendering.
- Pysical: An even more complex material, with which transparent objects (glass) in particular can be better represented
- AR Fallback material: Only for Type=Physical: The AR engines cannot display these materials well, so another material can be specified here as a replacement.
- Roughness: Roughness of the surface
- Metalness: Metallic sheen of the surface
- Transparent: Is the material transparent
- Opacity: How transparent is it? (1=solid, 0=completely transparent)
- Color: A color value, is mixed with the color map
- Emissive: Luminous color of the surface
- Color Map: An image that is used as a surface (e.g. a wood texture). The image must be evenly illuminated and tileable, i.e. it must be possible to display it several times side by side. It should not be larger than about 1024x1024.
- Under "Advanced":
- Normal Map: Can smooth models, for 3D modelers.
- Roughness Map: For different rough spots on a surface, for 3D modelers.
- Metallness Map: For different reflective areas on a surface, for 3D modelers.
- Side: Sets whether the material should be shown on the front and/or back of models, normally front side (i.e. outside).
- Texture repeat: For x- and y-direction the scaling of the textures. Normally 1.
- Above you can see the material in the preview.
Creating new materials on the basis of existing ones
- Open the editor of your configurator.
- Click on Loading...in the sidebar.
- Click on the copy symbol of the base material
- A copy of the material is created, change it as required.
Changing materials
- Open the editor of your configurator.
- Click on Loading...in the sidebar.
- Click on the pencil icon on a material and change it as desired.
Coloring in a 3D configurator
- Switch to Loading...in the sidebar.
- First create a Auswahl.
- Switch to the Actions tab.
- Check the box next to Change surface
- and select the material to be replaced. All models and all materials are listed in the selection. You can select several materials.
- Click on Loading....
- There is now a Material column on the Values tab.
- Enter the desired material for each value here.
The selected material will now be replaced with the material selected in the selection.
Materials when using images
For images, you naturally need one image per material. You simply control the material replacement as described in hier.
