How can I let the customer add product components?
Imagine you want to sell exhibition stands. Of course you can auswählen lassen the stands with the K3, your Farbe bestimmen and also a company logo aufdrucken.
But what if the stand is to be equipped with chairs, tables, counters and displays? And in a number that you do not specify in advance? In other words, if your overall product consists of parts (components) that the customer can select with a quantity?
This not only happens with exhibition stands, but also with windows with several panels, Cabinets with several built-in elements, PV systems with several panels and party tents with wall tarpaulins.
So often - how is this mapped in K3?
The solution: components
The tool for this is a component list. This is a product feature that initially resembles a Auswahl. You can therefore specify several values from which your customer can choose. These values are the "type" of the component, so in the example above there would be the values Chair, table, counter and display.
However, the customer cannot select one of these values, but can add any number of components of these types in the component list.
And the special highlight: Each component can be reconfigured individually
To do this, you can create additional characteristics that can be defined independently for each component in the list.
The main product with its - possibly multiple - component lists, which in turn can contain component lists, creates a structure that is called variant tree in variant management. The K3 thus adheres to known standards. You can use the variant tree to map extremely complex product structures.
Set up a component list
- Open the configurator editor.
- If you have not already done so, create the first configuration step by clicking on Loading....
- Now click on Loading.... This creates a feature.
- First give the new feature the name that you want your customer to see.
- Select the component as Display.
- Click on Loading.... The new list appears immediately in the configurator, but is still empty.
- The list itself will not usually read any actions, so skip this tab.
- Now enter the types of components to be added as values
info
If you want to add two types that are configured by different characteristics, then create two separate lists for this
- Now enter the values. Specify the display in each case.
- Finally, click on Loading.... The component list is now complete.
You can now try out how to add several components to the list in the preview.
Representations of the component list
There are three representations of components in the sidebar:
- A simple list of components, selected with a dropdown.
- A list of components, selected in a popup - so the selectable components can be displayed in more detail be displayed in more detail.
- Instead of the list of components, the selectable components are displayed directly. This shows the offer more directly. However, it is dependent on the components being displayed in the 3D view. Click on a component to open it in the sidebar.
In the options, you can activate whether the components can be sorted and duplicated.
Group the component list
- In the component values, you can create a Loading..., perhaps "Category"
- Enter this column under "Options" under "Group by".
- Set the "Display" to "Component list with popup".
- The values are then grouped according to the "Category" in the selection popup.
Set up the configurator for the components
- Once you have added a component to the list, the pencil icon for configuring this component appears behind it. Click on it.
- As you are in the editor, the Loading...button appears here
- You can now create one or more characteristics with which the components (of all types in the list) are configured.
- You can use "Show values from inner feature" to display more information about the component in the list of components.
This allows you to create your own configurator for the component list. You can use all the options in it that you also have for the configurator of the main product.
