How can I show more information about the selections?

If you have a Auswahl angelegt, the user is shown the possible options, but without further information. In order to make a meaningful selection, some advice is often necessary. There are a number of options for this:

Prerequisites

Display standard information

  • Open the editor for the selection by clicking on the pencil behind its name. The left sidebar opens.
  • Click on
    Loading...
  • Here there are a number of options to display more information about the values:
    • Image: An image that shows the option.
    • Web address: The user can click on this to read more information
    • Description: A short text that is displayed directly.
    • Info: A text of any length. In this case, a small info icon is displayed. Click on it to open the text.
  • Click on
    Loading...
  • Switch (in the sidebar) to the Values tab. Here you will now see columns for the information that you have selected for display.
  • Enter the information per value in the table.
  • To finish, click on
    Loading...

Display individual information

If the above information is not sufficient, you can enter even more information. This is particularly useful if you want to display a series of facts for each option in a table, e.g. power consumption, drum volume and max. speed for a washing machine. We call this information value properties.

  • Open the editor for the selection by clicking on the pencil behind its name. The left sidebar opens.
  • Click on the Values tab.
  • Click on
    Loading...
    .
  • Give the new value property a Name and select its Type:
    • A number. In this case, also specify the Unit, i.e. "Amp." or "cm^3" or "U/s".
    • A text that can be entered in any language.
    • A text that is identical in every language. (We explain below why this can be useful).
  • Check the box "Property is displayed to the user" (see below).
  • Click on
    Loading...
  • A new column appears. Enter the new value property for each value.

As soon as you display value properties, an info icon appears next to the options. Click on it to open a dialog in which (if specified, next to the info text) a table with the value properties is displayed.

Change individual information

If you want to change a value property:

  • Click on the three dots next to the value property in the header of the value table
  • select
    Loading...
warning

If you change the type of a value property, you must enter the data again!

What else value properties can be used for

Were you wondering why you have to check the "Should be displayed" box?

This is because value properties can also be used for other purposes.

For example, you can access value properties in formulas.

info

Later, rules will also be able to handle value properties.

Therefore, it sometimes makes sense to capture value properties without displaying them. Then texts that are not translated also make sense because they define a specific property of the value, e.g. "needs_powerpackage". In a rule, you would then turn on the power package if the value property assumes this value.
