How can I determine the validity of product parts?

Prerequisites

Validity within the component list

If you only use characteristics in a rule that you have defined within the component list, the rule is applied to every component in the list.

For example, if you have created the variables "Color" and "Series" in the Beispiel Messestand and define in a rule that all colors are available in series A, but only red and blue in series B, the system checks whether this rule applies to every component in the list in the list is checked to see whether this rule is fulfilled.

Validity with the type

You can also include the component list itself as a characteristic in a rule. The checked value is then the type of the component. Several constellations are conceivable:

Type and list characteristics: If the rule only contains characteristics from the list in addition to the type, in the example above the type and the color, for example, you can specify that there are red and blue tables, but yellow and green chairs.

Type and parent characteristics: Here, apart from the type, the rule only contains characteristics that are at list level. In the example above, for example, if the stand itself has a size, you can express that a stand of size XS can only contain displays but a stand of size XL can contain tables, chairs, counters and displays.

Type, list and parent features: This is a very complex rule that is rarely needed under normal circumstances. For example, you could formulate that in a size XS stand the chairs must be red and the tables red or blue, in an XL size stand, however, all types can have all colors.

Validity with list and parent characteristics

With these rules, which are also quite complex, you can specify that the components of an XS stand must all be red, must be red or blue for an XL stand, regardless of the type.
