How can I make my configurator multilingual?

You can offer your configurator in several languages. You can enter the language content individually or maintain translations in a table.

Requirements

Add another language

By default, the configurator is available in German and English and the German language is set for the content. You can change the language in the menu bar of the editor under Content: DE.

tip

Do not confuse this language setting for the content with the language setting in your Profil. This is about the language in which the K3 administration interface is displayed.

To create an additional language:

  • Switch to
    Loading...
  • Select the languages.
  • The frontend can be switched to a specific language by adding the parameter &lang=fr or similar.
  • The first language specified here is used if the configurator is started without explicit language selection Language selection is started.

Enter language content

  • Open the configurator editor.
  • Click on
    Loading...
    in the menu bar.
  • Select the language in which you want to maintain content.
  • Texts that you have not yet translated are now displayed in square brackets []. You can enter the translations directly.

Translate system messages

The K3 gives your users hints in many places. For example, if they have selected an option that is not valid when they click the AR button on the desktop or the summary before ordering. You can customize and translate all these texts by clicking on the pencil icon and also translate them.

Perform translations

  • Open the options of the configurator.
  • Switch to the Languages tab
  • There you will now see a table with all the texts of the configurator in all languages.
  • You can translate all texts directly in the table.
  • Alternatively, you can download an Excel sheet and give it to a translator, for example. If you do not change the structure of the file, you can then import the texts into it again.

Next steps

  • If you send Mails with PDFs, you will probably also want to adapt these texts.
