Introduction to the topic Characteristics

In this video, I focus on a central element of the configurator: the creation of features that allow users to define what exactly they want to configure.

Create first feature

First, I explain how to create the first feature. To do this, click on the "New feature" button. Here you can select the type of feature, e.g. a list that offers the user various options, or other types such as colors or numbers.

Various display options

Once the type has been selected, the next step is to choose the display format. I will start with a simple list option and show you how to fill this list with values such as "Ladies" and "Men" for bicycle frames. The display is initially grayed out, as no specific options have yet been defined.

Add detailed options and descriptions

I will then explain how to add more detailed descriptions and even images to the individual options. These functions improve user interaction by displaying additional information directly in the configurator.

Further feature types and their application

I also cover other feature types, such as capturing dimensions, where users can enter specific values. I set that these values can be entered in certain units, such as centimeters, and within defined limits (minimum and maximum). An increment can also be specified.

Structuring the configurator with steps

To maintain clarity and enable step-by-step configuration, I show how to divide features into different steps. This helps users to be guided through the configuration process without being overwhelmed by the amount of options.

Conclusion and outlook

To conclude the video, I discuss how these features and steps can ultimately be presented in a user-friendly and logical order in the configurator to ensure intuitive operation.
