Introduction to pricing

In this video, I explain how to display and configure prices in a configurator. I have upgraded the system to a higher product version for the tutorial, as the basic versions do not support the entry of prices.

Add articles and prices

At the beginning of the video, I walk you through the process of adding items and their prices. Items for frames, saddles and handlebars are given specific prices. These items form the basis for the price calculation, which is done via a hidden parts list that the customer can see at the end of the configuration process.

Create price rules

I explain how to create rules to add the correct items to the BOM depending on the user selection and display the corresponding prices. For example, if a customer selects a men's frame, the corresponding article with the price for the men's frame is automatically inserted in the parts list.

Dynamic pricing

I also demonstrate how dynamic pricing works, for example by adding shipping costs based on the weight of the configured product. I show how to create a rule that takes the weight as a basis and calculates the price for shipping accordingly.

Shipping costs based on weight

A special rule is set up that calculates shipping costs based on the total weight of the bike. The cost is set to be calculated per kilogram, with the calculation rounded to integers to ensure a realistic shipping cost calculation.

Summary and order overview

At the end of the configuration process, the customer can view an overview of their selection with detailed price information. I will demonstrate how to display this overview including a detailed parts list with the individual selected items and their prices.

Conclusion and review

Finally, I check the functionality of the price rules set up and show how changes in the configuration directly affect the total price displayed. This is demonstrated using the example of selecting different saddles and frames, also showing the influence of weight on shipping costs.
