General mode of operation
In this section, we explain the more in-depth options of the railing configurator. It will occasionally get a little technical.
Basis: K3
The railing configurator is based on the k3. It is therefore important to first familiarize yourself with the prinzipiellen Funktionsweise of the K3.
Dynamic models
The 3D representation in the railing configurator is based on several dynamischen Modellen. These models work in principle as follows:
- first, you create a dynamic model. To do this, click on Models > Dynamic models and select one.
- many of these dynamic railing models use other models themselves, e.g. profiles, connectors or end caps.
- However, several of these used models can be specified. For example, the dynamic model "Handrail", which uses the complete handrail in each railing shape (I, L or U) the complete handrail, uses sub-models for wall connections. Several models for wall connections are generally entered here. However, only the models that are displayed in the scene by rule are used. Their positioning specified in the rule is generally discarded and replaced by the dynamic model, in this case the handrail Model, in this case the handrail, or interpreted relative to the dynamic model.
- In addition, the dynamic models generally have a number of attributes that can be set.
Either to a fixed value or a calculation.
For example, this calculation could be entered in the "Height" attribute for the handrail:
(Handlauf.Typ == 2 ? Holzform.Höhe : Handlauf.Höhe) / 1000
. Depending on the type, it uses various characteristics for the actual height and converts from millimetres to meters. - Now the dynamic model itself only needs to be inserted by rule.
Model structure
The following table provides an overview of the dynamic models used and their most important rules:
Model | Rule |
---|---|
Handrail | Model: Handrail |
Concrete base | Model: Foundation |
wooden base | model: foundation |
Foundation | Model: Foundation |
Glass panel | Model: Railing, type modelAction |
perforated panel | model: railing, type modelAction |
Railing | Model: Railing, type modelAction |
Rope reiling | Model: Railing, type modelAction |

Aluminum plate | |
wall left, wall right, wall rear | wall display |
SF-XX rod infill | model: rod infill |
Handrail wall connection_XX | Handrail wall connection |
L-rail | glass inserts |
standard rail | glass inserts |
Perforated sheets
The perforated sheets are designed as a material. Transparent textures create the impression of an opening. The relevant rule is: "Perforated sheet materialAction"
